Oversized Rug Cleaning. Rochester & Buffalo, NY
Most cleaners turn large rugs away. We built our facility specifically to handle them — including the rugs that have nowhere else to go.
The Problem With Oversized Rugs
Large rugs — 8×10, 9×12, 10×14, and anything bigger — create a genuine logistical challenge for most rug cleaning operations. Standard equipment isn't sized for them. Wash tanks that work fine for a 4×6 rug can't properly immerse a 10×14. The result is an uneven clean at best, and damage from improper handling at worst.
Most local cleaners either decline oversized rugs outright or attempt a makeshift process that doesn't work well. We invested in a facility specifically built around large rug handling — which is why we're the destination for oversized pieces across Rochester, Buffalo, and the surrounding region.
What Makes Our Facility Different
1,200-Gallon Wash Tank
Our primary wash tub holds 1,200 gallons — enough volume to fully immerse and soak even the largest residential rugs. Full immersion is the only way to properly clean a rug: the water must penetrate through the entire pile and backing, displacing embedded soil and contamination from the inside out.
14-Foot Wash Width
Our facility can handle rugs up to 14 feet wide — covering virtually every residential and most commercial oversized pieces. Rugs wider than 14 feet are assessed individually and we'll advise on the best approach.
Centrifuge Extraction
After washing, water is extracted via centrifuge — a fast, fibre-safe method that works effectively regardless of rug size. Oversized rugs don't need longer drying times when the initial extraction is thorough.
Pick-Up & Delivery — Essential for Large Rugs
Moving a large rug is physically demanding and easy to do wrong. Improper rolling, dragging, or folding an oversized rug can distort the pile, stress the foundation, or create permanent creases. Our pick-up and delivery service means your rug is handled by people who know how to move large rugs safely — from your home to our facility and back.
We come to you, roll and load the rug correctly, transport it in our fitted van, and return it in the same condition it left — just cleaner. Pick-up and delivery is included free with every clean.
What Size Is Considered Oversized?
There's no strict threshold — any rug that's difficult to transport or that standard cleaning operations struggle to handle is effectively oversized. Common sizes we regularly clean include:
- 8×10 ft — common living room size, manageable but heavy
- 9×12 ft — the most common "large" rug size
- 10×14 ft — requires proper equipment to clean correctly
- 12×15 ft and larger — most cleaners decline; we handle these regularly
- Custom and irregular shapes — runners, round rugs, custom cuts
Built to Move Big Rugs
Our Ford Transit 250 is set up specifically for rug transport — not adapted from a general cargo van. We have the space, padding, and securing equipment to carry your largest rugs without damage.
